TahrirSquare Obelisk™

Tahrir Square is one of the largest and most important squares in Egypt, where major events such as the revolutions of 2011,1952,1919,1881 and 2013 have passed through as well as historic funerals such as the funeral of the leader Gamal Abdel Nasser, Oum Kulthum and others. The square was developed in its current form in 2020 when four of the ram statues were moved from the Karnak Temple in Luxor and the obelisk was moved from the Sun al-Hajar area Shargiya to be installed in Tahrir Square beside the Egyptian museum, Kasr el Nil Bridge, Tahrir Complex Building, the American University of Cairo and Omar Makram Mosque.

ميدان التحرير او ميدان الإسماعيلية سابقاً، وسمي بهذا الاسم نسبة للخديوي اسماعيل مؤسس حي وسط المدينة في أواخر القرن التاسع عشر والذي أراد تأسيس ميدان يحاكي أشهر الميادين العالمية خلال فترة الاحتفال بإفتتاح قناة السويس. يعتبر ميدان التحرير من أكبر وأهم الميادين في مصر، حيث مرت عليه أحداث كبرى مثل ثورة ١٨٨١ و١٩١٩و١٩٥٢ و٢٠١١ و٢٠١٣ كما مرت عليه جنازات تاريخية عديدة مثل جنازة الزعيم جمال عبد الناصر وأم كلثوم ومشاهير آحرين. تم تطوير الميدان على هيئته الحالية عام ٢٠٢٠ حيث تم نقل اربعة من تماثيل الكباش من معبد الكرنك في الأقصر ونقلت المسلة من منطقة صان الحجر بالشرقية ليتم تثبيتهم في ميدان التحرير ليكونوا بجوار المتحف المصري وكوبري قصر النيل ومجمع التحرير ومسجد عمر مكرم والجامعة الامريكية.
